On 27 and 28 April 2026, Skills4Nuclear project partners gathered in Brussels for the project’s second plenary meeting. The meeting, chaired by project coordinator Teodora Retegan Vollmer (Chalmers University of Technology) allowed to discuss the implementation of the various Work Packages activities, and to pave the way for future developments for the project.
Following a presentation from Evalion’s Michaela Velčková and Jakub Heller, who lead Work Package 1 on project implementation, nucleareurope’s Jessica Johnson detailed the activities carried out under Work Package 3 (Communication and Dissemination). She specifically highlighted the importance of collaboration between partners for effective communications, before collecting inputs for the development of the project’s attractiveness toolkit.
SCK CEN’s Jakob Luyten then gave an overview of the completed deliverables and work in progress under Work Package 2 (European Forum for Workforce and Skills). After outlining key milestones, he stressed that the project’s first webinar, which will take place on 20 May, will delve into the findings of the analysis of existing nuclear workforce assessment studies, conducted under the Work Package.
Concluding the first day, ENEN’s Gabriel Pavel, as well as SNN’s Raluca Andreea Nedelcu and? Unicaen’s Valentin Mignon, discussed Work Package 4 (Education, Training & Re-Skilling) activities. They specifically addressed the creation of the project’s Education & Training Working Group, the analysis of existing nuclear education and training programmes, alignment with other skills related initiatives and the assessment of Vocational Education and Training (VET) programmes.
The second day was dedicated to the presentations of Work Package 5 (Strategic Foresight & Funding Opportunities) led by Unicaen, and Work Package 6 (Nuclear Skills Strategy), led by SNN. It also provided the opportunity to exchange with external stakeholders.
The activities of Work Package 5 were presented by Unicaen’s Hélène Bouraima-Lelong and Valentin Mignon, who discussed the key takeaways from the peer-learning activity carried out within the work package, as well as the creation of a consortium to develop a Centre of Vocational and Scientific Excellence? for nuclear.
Concluding the Work Package presentations, SNN’s Raluca Andreea Nedelcu gave an overview of the activities carried out under Work Package 6 (Nuclear Skills Strategy). The presentation focused on the work towards the development of a Nuclear Skills Strategy to address current gaps and shortages.
