On 31 August 2026, Skills4Nuclear Deliverable 4.3 was published, as part of Work Package 4 (Education, Training & Re-Skilling). The Deliverable, entitled “Tiering the Typology of EU VET Trainings Based on Industry Needs”, proposes a structured European framework for lower and higher vocational qualifications that responds to current and future labour market requirements across the nuclear sector.
The Deliverable develops a proposed European Nuclear Vocational Education & Training (VET) Architecture which establishes common principles for occupational mapping, qualification design, curriculum development and competency integration, while maintaining sufficient flexibility to accommodate national education systems, reactor technologies and regulatory environments.
By combining industrial workforce analysis with the European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations (ESCO) and European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF) frameworks, the methodology provides a scalable and evidence-based foundation for future European cooperation in nuclear vocational education and training.
A set of recommendations are formulated at the end of the Deliverable, aimed at fostering the development of a coherent, flexible and industry-driven education and training ecosystem capable of responding to rapidly evolving workforce requirements.
